Welcome to my ceramics workshop!

My name is Matthijs Bunschoten. Here in my small workshop in the garden I create my cups, vases and bowls. As a creative spirit, I love experimenting with different shapes, textures and glazes to always create new artistic variations.

I am originally a musician and violist. For over thirty-five years I played in the Winterthur Music College. In addition to playing music, I was involved there as a youth representative, where I enjoyed setting up, organizing and leading youth projects. My path into the world of ceramics led me to Mathies Schwarze, a talented ceramicist, teacher and inspiration, who taught me the basics of pottery.

Music and ceramics may seem different at first glance, but for me they are both expressions of craftsmanship and creativity. With passion, skill and dedication, both art forms create works that are intended to evoke emotions in the viewer or listener. The key difference between music and ceramics is that music is a one-off experience in the moment, while ceramic objects can be picked up again and again and used in everyday life.

I warmly invite you to discover my works of art and gain an insight into my world of ceramics and music.
